Less . . .
A highly respected and internationally recognized senior executive,
Avigdor Kaplan’s career has been marked by numerous achievements,
and he has a proven track record in managing vast organizations
facing critical challenges. Before becoming CEO of Clal Insurance,
he was asked by a former Prime Minister to serve as CEO of the
Clalit Health Fund (today known as Clalit Health Services), the
largest health management organization (HMO) in that country. During
that time, the Fund had over 3.5 million insureds serviced through
14 hospitals, 28,000 employees, 370 pharmacies, and 1,250 health
clinics. His stated mission was to restore financial stability to an
entity on the verge of bankruptcy . . . and he succeeded during his
five years on the job in introducing changes to operations,
personnel, and structures that began the road to recovery.
Avigdor's career started in the 1960s in the aircraft industry,
where he held a variety of positions, including Deputy CEO of a
major corporation and CEO of a related U.S. subsidiary. He holds
